Harborne Rules
George Smiley played by Moscow Rules... Here are the Harborne Rules as formulated by SPR [Considered to be a work in progress]
There are NO rules.... just the Laws of the Game & common sense.
Latest Stop Press 8 October 2018
The long awaited FA revised LOTG have now been published. I'll get round to summarizing them one day, but for the moment at Harborne we'll just carry on as normal..
For those interested, here are the links to
a) the FA's summary
b) the revised Laws
The rest of this page I'll leave here as an historical document, until I learn how to Archive stuff properly.
The FA's latest revision to their Laws of the Game for Small Sided Football was in February 2012. http://www.thefa.com/~/media/files/pdf/the-fa-2013-14/fa-rules-2013-14/fa-ssf-laws-of-the-game_2012.ashx ...but see STOP PRESS below
It's perhaps important to emphasise what the FA say....
"The set of Laws contained in this document are those that the FA will use in its own Small Sided Football competitions and we would recommend their adoption by all organisers of Small Sided Football. However given the diversity of small sided facilities and formats in this country use of these Laws in all circumstances is not mandatory and these revised Laws also allow the FA and the County Football Associations to sanction other formats of Small Sided Football.
The principles of any approval by the FA shall be based upon,
- The normal Laws of Association Football apply with exceptions
- The game should take into full account the health and safety of the players and officials"
So…….,
STOP PRESS 22 February 2017 The FA introduce the specific Laws for Walking Football
Heres the link to the FA's webpage.
I'll leave the rest of this page as historical until I have chance to amend having digested the FA's rules. Of course they are primarily for competitive play..
⚽️Firstly - Absolutely no Running, Jogging, Skipping or Sliding!!, either with or without the ball, and the goalkeeper.
⚽️Secondly - the usual rules of Association Football as set out by the FA orFIFA or whoever thinks they are in charge apply, subject to any local modification for small sided football or small sided venue.
⚽️However... the usual rules are subject to whichever referee is is charge, and he is the ultimate arbiter.
⚽️And Thirdly - an overarching Wfc Harborne Rule of playing with a smile on your face.☺️
More specifically, Walking Football United (self-styled co-ordinators) have developed set of tournament rules from various sources
Here http://www.walkingfootballunited.co.uk/#!rules/c111e. This link may not work...
⚽️NO RUNNING, JOGGING - ON OR OFF THE BALL BY ANY PLAYER
⚽️LOW IMPACT TACKLING ONLY (NO HEEL, ANKLE RAPPING FROM BEHIND OR SIDE.)
⚽️NO SLIDE-INS
⚽️ NO OFF-SIDES
⚽️BALL HEAD HEIGHT RESTRICTION – a ball deflected above head height shall be given possession to the team that did not touch the ball last before it infringed the height restriction. Balls saved or deflected off the goalkeeper above head height shall have possession retained by the goalkeeper. The ball is considered dead once it has risen above head height.
I think rebounds off the goalkeeper should be played on even if over head height.
Referee determines height (tallest player, referee height, average height, 6ft) REFEREE HAS SOLE DECISION ON INFRINGEMENTS,,,, I think it should be the height of the referee. ....and by head height I really mean shoulder height - as fair few of us wear glasses to play.
⚽️NO ENTRY INTO PENALTY AREA (except by momentum and no advantage gained) – Free Kick
⚽️NO GOALKEEPER EGRESS FROM PENALTY AREA (except by momentum, or if sliding forward whilst making a save & carried self out - ball & upper body inside area) – Free Kick 3mtrs out
⚽️ALL FREE KICKS ARE INDIRECT
⚽️3MTR EXCLUSION DISTANCE ON OPPONENT PLAYER FROM BALL FROM DEAD BALL & FREE KICKS
⚽️OFFENSIVE FREE KICKS NEAR PENALTY AREA LINE MOVE BALL BACK 3MTRS (allows defenders to position themselves between ball & goal)
⚽️GOALKEEPER MAY RECEIVE BACK PASSES & MAY USE EITHER FEET OR PICK UP & THROW TO PUT BALL BACK IN PLAY
⚽️GOALKEEPER MAY ONLY THROW USING AN UNDER ARM ACTION – Free Kick 3 mtrs out area
⚽️FLEXI SUBS – ANY TIME BALL IS DEAD OR IN KEEPERS POSSESSION - ANY PLAYER
⚽️NO GOAL CAN BE SCORED DIRECT FROM KICK-OFFS, KICK-INS, DROP BALLS
⚽️GOALKEEPERS CANNOT SCORE FROM KICK, THROW, CLEARANCE
